The actually valid roaming regulation in EU will terminate at the end of the next year,
therefore on Wednesday, 24th February , 2021 the European Commission will present its proposal of the new regulation . With this proposal the Commission wants to entitle the citizens of the member states the use of their mobile phones without surcharge on the territory of the whole EU in the next 10 years.
The new regulation should on one side prolong the validity of the existing rules, but also define additional amendments such as the demand for the same quality and speed of the mobile connection as in the home country. Besides more simple and efficient access to emergency services and alternative forms of emergency calls for disabled people should be ensured.
Also travellers shoud be more warned against possible costs , which might arise at the use of value-added phone and data services.
