Villach ist mit rund 61.000 Einwohnerinnen und Einwohnern die zweitgrößte Stadt Kärntens und die siebentgrößte Stadt Österreichs. Der Bevölkerung wird nachgesagt, besonders lebenslustig und gastfreundlich zu sein, was sich unter anderem in der Bedeutung Villachs als beliebte Tourismusdestination spiegelt. Zahlreiche Veranstaltungen locken unterm Jahr hunderte Schaulustige in die Innenstadt, so zum Beispiel das Kirschenfest mit saftigen Kirschen und g’schackigem Schinken aus Brda, das Straßenkunstfestival mit Gauklern und Akrobaten, die Shopping Nights, die mit ihrem Rahmenprogramm eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre schaffen und viele weitere Veranstaltungen im Jahresreigen.

Beljak je z okoli 61.000 prebivalci drugo največje mesto na Koroškem in sedmo največje mesto v Avstriji. Splošno je znano, da se njegovo prebivalstvo veseli življenja in da je tudi gostoljubno, kar se med drugim odraža v tem, da je Beljak zelo priljubljena turistična destinacija. Izredno ugodna lega mesta – blizu so gore in morje, prav tako sosednji državi Italija in Slovenija – omogoča mladini in starejšim zelo raznovrstna počitniška doživetja. To so lahko razširjene kolesarske ture v osrčju narave, planinarjenje v Naravnem parku Dobrač, ali pa skok v hladno vodo številnih jezer (ta so sicer praviloma dostopna brezplačno): bivanje v regiji vedno predstavlja užitek.
Beljačani in Beljačanke radi praznujejo, še zlasti z gosti iz okoliških regij. Tako se vsako leto na Beljaškem pustu in tudi na tednu običajev na beljaškem žegnanju zbere na tisoče ljudi, da skupaj izrazijo veselje do življenja in slavijo običaje ter se spontano družijo. Med letom privabljajo številne prireditve na stotine željnih zabave v središče mesta, na primer Praznik češenj s sočnimi češnjami in okusnim pršutom iz Goriških Brd, Ulični festival umetnosti z glumači in akrobati, nakupovalne noči, ki s svojim spremljevalnim programom ustvarjajo prav posebno atmosfero, poleg tega pa so v teku leta še številne druge prireditve .

Either numerous bicycle tours in the center of the nature, or trekking in the Natural Park Dobratsch and a jump in the cold water at one of the many lakes (which are in the rule accessible free of charge ), the stay in the region always presents an enjoyment.
