Das ganze Jahr über finden sich in Villach unterschiedlichste Gelegenheiten, sich dem Kunst- und Kulturgenuss hinzugeben. Dabei reicht die Palette von hochkulturellen Veranstaltungsreihen wie dem Carintischen Sommer und unterschiedlichsten Ausstellungen und Kunstevents in der Galerie Freihausgasse bis zu kleinen, aber feinen Ausstellungen in privaten Kunsträumen. Ein Höhepunkt des Veranstaltungsjahres ist für einen großen Teil der Bevölkerung die „Draubühne“, in deren Rahmen eine Bühne mitten am Draufluss errichtet wird und halb Villach sich an den Draubermen versammelt, um dieses Schauspiel nicht zu versäumen. Die Stadt Villach ist zudem ein großer Förderer der neuenbuehne und des Kulturhofkellers, die das gesamte Jahr über nicht nur unterhalten, sondern deren sozialkritische Aufführungen zum Nachdenken anregen. Leichtere Unterhaltung bietet der Kinosommer in der Musikschule, Abwechslung verspricht das Kulturabo. Nicht zuletzt tragen auch zahlreiche Vereine dazu bei, Traditionen und Brauchtum nicht in Vergessenheit geraten zu lassen oder einfach den Gemeinschaftssinn zu pflegen.

Ein wichtiges Anliegen ist es der Stadtpolitik, schon den Jüngsten den Zugang zu unterschiedlichsten Kulturerlebnissen zu ermöglichen. So werden Kindertheaterabos für verschiedene Altersgruppen angeboten, Kunstvermittlerinnen und –vermittler erklären Kunstwerke kindergerecht, das Kinder- und Jugendliteraturfestival musste im heurigen Jahr aufgrund des großen Andranges sogar verlängert werden.

Beljak mesto kulture

V Beljaku so celo leto številne priložnosti, ki omogočajo umetniške in kulturne užitke. Pri tem ponudba obsega prireditve na vrhunskem kulturnem nivoju kot so Koroško poletje in razne razstave ter  kulturni dogodki v Galeriji Freihausgasse, pa vse do majhnih, ampak izbranih razstav v zasebnih kulturnih prostorih. Vrhunec prireditev vsakega leta pomeni za večino prebivalcev »Draubühne«, v okviru katere na reki Dravi postavijo oder, polovica Beljaka se zbere na bregovih Drave, da ne bi zamudila te predstave. Mesto Beljak poleg tega nameni veliko podporo gledališču neuebuehne in kleti v kulturni hiši, ki vse leto ne samo zabavata, ampak njune socialno kritične uprizoritve vzpodbujajo k razmišljanju. Lažjo vrsto zabave ponuja Kinosommer v Glasbeni šoli, razvedrilo pa nudi  Kulturabo. Poleg tega tudi številna društva pripomorejo k temu, da se tradicije in običaji ne izgubijo v preteklosti in da se enostavno ohranja smisel za družabnost.

Pomemben doprinos mestne politike je, da že najmlajšim omogoča dostop do različnih kulturnih prireditev. Tako so v ponudbi otroški abonmaji za različne starostne skupine, umetniki in umetnice razlagajo o umetninah na otrokom razumljiv način, otroški in mladinski literarni festival pa so morali prireditelji v letošnjem letu celo podaljšati zaradi velikega interesa.

Town of culture

In Villach there are all over the year many occasions, which offer art and cultural pleasures. Their  offer consists of events on a high cultural level such as the Carinthian Summer Music Festival,  exhibitions and cultural events in the Freihausgasse  Gallery, which presents contemporary Austrian art and international art. Frequent are also  smaller , but selected exhibitions in private cultural surroundings. The top event of the year is for the majority of the inhabitants »Draubuehne«, with  a  floating stage on the Drau river, then  half of the town comes to the river banks in order not to miss the shows. Villach also offers great support to the theater neuebuehnevillach  and to the Kulturhofkeller , which do  not only entertain , but their socially critical events motivate  thinking. An easier sort of entertainment can be found in Kinosommer in the Music School, Kulturabo offers fun, too. Additionally several associations support the survival of tradition and folk customs and simply keep the sense for the social life.

An important focus of the town politics is that it stimulates  the young generation  to follow various cultural events.  In the offer there are childrens  subscriptions for different age  groups, artists explain  about their works in a way, which is understandable for the  children, the children’s  and youth literature festival even had to be prolonged by the organizers due to the big interest.
