35 Years of Slovenian Independence

At the occasion of Slovenia’s Statehood Day, the Consul General of the Republic of Slovenia in Klagenfurt, Maja Balant Slobodjanac, hosted a ceremonial reception at the Carinthian State Museum. The event was also attended by the representatives of the AACC, Klagenfurt – namely President Martin Pečar and Secretary General Stefan Lesjak. In her welcoming speech, Maja Balant Slobodjanac emphasised that the highest of all values is human dignity – the inalienable right of every individual to live freely and with respect. The day before this reception, Carinthian Governor Daniel Fellner and the Slovenian Ambassador to Vienna Marko Štucin discussed the unresolved issues regarding the implementation of Article 7 of the Austrian State Treaty.

This Year Slovenia celebrates the 35th anniversary of its independance. During the reception, Consul General Maja Balant Slobodjanac stressed that over the past 35 years Slovenia has established itself as a modern and open society. She also emphasised that minority rights are not a privilege, but also an important indicator of a society’s democracy and maturity.
