In the coming months the EU will introduce a new system of entry and exit. In six months European stamps in passpors will be history! Non- EU citizens will have to register at the EU borders by scanning their passports, having their fingerprints and photos taken. The purpose of the new system is in gathering more data and herewith the fight againt criminal delicts.
The EU informed the public that the system would be implemented at all border crossings at the outer borders of the Union by April 10th, 2026. Afterwards the stamping of passports will be completely replaced by electronic registration, so stamps in passports will remain a matter of the past.
