In Lovran – the old town near Opatija – a ceremonial opening of the exhibition Traces of Life by the Carinthian painter and sculptor from Pliberk, Albert Mesner, took place on the evening of April 25, 2026, at the Galerija Laurus.
He is best known for his use of the Japanese technique of clay firing. The exhibition will be open until May 16, 2026.
Lovran – like the municipality of Brda – is twinned with the town of Bleiburg (Pliberk). Therefore, in addition to figures from the local political and cultural sphere, representatives of Pliberk also attended the exhibition, led by Arthur Ottowitz, municipal councillor for culture, who is also responsible for the Bleiburg fair. The opening of the cultural event was also attended by Peter Lapanje, a member of the AACC Supervisory Board.
Also present were representatives from Codroipo in Italy and Budapest in Hungary, which are likewise twinned with Pliberk.
The next gathering of all the mentioned participants will take place at the latest in the first week of September, in the Alpe Adria tent at the Bleiburg fair.
