Slovenia has the lowest rate of poverty or social exclusion among children in the EU. In 2024 poverty or social exclusion endangered 93,3 million of people what is about 21% of the EU population. Last year 19,5 million of children in the EU were at risk of poverty or social exclusion, what is 24,2 % of the generation aged less than 18. In the EU Slovenia has the lowest level of children, endangered by poverty or social exclusion. On Wednesday Eurostat published its newest annual research concerning the endangered children population. In comparision with the previous year the percentage of the endangered population in age under 18 years decreased for 0,6 percent.
Comparing with the other EU member countries Slovenia is in this statistics firmly on the last place, with the lowest percentage of children at risk ( 11,8% ). The other countries nearby are Cyprus ( 14,8% ) and the Czech Republic ( 15,4%). On the other side the biggest endangerment was registered in Bulgaria ( 35,1% ), Spain ( 34,5% ) and Romania ( 33,8% ).
