In press report , which was issued on Wednesday, 21st of February, the European agency ECDC (European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control ) announced that the Austrian epidemiologist Pamela Rendi-Wagner was nominated for the Director of ECDC , she will be the successor of German medical specialist Dr.Andrea Ammon. The proposal to nominate Pamela Rendi-Wagner for the Director, comes from the Managing Board of the Centre, in which there are representatives of all Member States as well as the representatives of the European Commision and European Parliament. Prior to the official taking over her position, the former Chairperson of the Austrian Social Democratic Party must pass the hearing at the Committee for Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI ) of the European Parliament.
