Bad Ischl-Salzkammergut is the European Capital of Culture for 2024 ! As the first inner-alpine rural region it divides this prestigous award with Tartu in Estonia and the Norwegian town Bodo and is therefore- after Graz and Linz- already the third Austrian title holder.
The 23 municipalities in Upper Austra and Styria have prepared a lot for the Year 2024. Under the motto CULTURE IS THE NEW SALT thew want to present the diversity of the culture in the region and to open Salzkammergut to visitors from the whole world.
The wide ranging program of the Year of the Culture Capital includes events from all fields of culture, art exhibitions, concerts, discusions up to innovative formats, which open new roads in the cultural mediation.
