There is an advanced discussion before the background of the long expected stop of the gas transmission through the Nord Stream pipeline . The EU Ministers in charge of energy will namely have a meeting on September 9th , where they will face the explosion of gas prices and at the same time have to think about the security of the supply.
In order to limit the gas prices the upper price limit could be implemented for the gas, which would be used for the production of electricity. Also the gas price could be limited only for the gas imported from Russia- this model has in mind the EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Numerous member countries- also Germany- are however sceptical about such a sort of direct market measures .
The general expectation is however, that there will be no agreement upon definite solutions at this meeting.
