On Thursday, April 16th, Bernard Sadovnik in the function of the Mayor of Globasnitz/ Globasnica and founding president of the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-Border Cooperation (AACC ) hosted the delegation of municipal councilors and guests from the Municipality of Goriška Brda, Slovenia. The highlight of this event was the Mayor of Brda Franc Mužič, who received the Honor Badge of the State of Carinthia from the new Carinthian Governor Daniel Fellner for long lasting cooperation between the municipalities and regions. Additionally, upon the invitation of Mayor Christian Scheider, Mužič signed the guest book of the city of Klagenfurt at the City hall. The initiative for this came from the actual AACC President Martin Pečar and Secretary General Štefan Lesjak. Franc Mužič was very pleased by the recognition and attention, admitting he was deeply moved by the extraordinary respect for his work which he had always performed with joy and belief.
Franc Mužič has been the Mayor of the Municipality Brda since its foundation in 1994 and is the only mayor this municipality has had up till now. In the last municipal elections in 2022, he was elected to the position for the eight (8th!) time. He will celebrate his 80th birthday in autumn. He has decided he would not run for the ninth time in the elections this November. Upon his coming retirement from politics the municipality rewarded him with a two day trip to Carinthia to visit all the municipalities that are partners with Brda: Klagenfurt, Villach, Völkermarkt, Globasnitz/ Globasnica and Bleiburg/ Pliberk.
