Ves svet že od nekdaj pozna Brda predvsem po neprimerljivo okusnih češnjah in Praznik češenj je ena osrednjih prireditev, ki pritegne veliko oboževalcev. Stare sorte češnje, kot črne in bele cepike, drugmbernce, napoleonke, čufarce, tercinke, čempevke, vedrjanke in druge, so Brici nosili v koših in prevažali z vozovi daleč naokoli, iz njih pa pripravljali številne okusne jedi. Cenili so jih že na cesarskem Dunaju, z njimi se je sladkala elita v daljnem Sankt Peterburgu, v Pragi in drugih evropskih prestolnicah. Posebna poštna služba je tedaj poskrbela za sveže pošiljke, Bricem pa je to bil prvi zaslužek po dolgi zimi.
Največja in najbolj odmevna kulturno – turistična prireditev, ki jo danes obišče preko 30.000 obiskovalcev iz domače ter sosednjih italijanskih in avstrijskih pokrajin, je Praznik češenj. Dogodek poln etnoloških vsebin, kulturnih in športnih prireditev ter zabave za vse generacije. V sklopu praznika se zvrstijo številni dogodki:
Maraton Junakov vinogradov 2. 6. 2018
Dogodka se vsako leto udeleži preko 1.000 kolesarskih navdušencev, ki pridno seštevajo prekolesarjene kilometre na poti iz Ljubljane v Brda.
Pohod od češnje do češnje 2. 6. 2018
Udeleženci skupaj s poznavalci briške pokrajine »osvajajo« briške griče. Pot se vije skozi vasice, vinograde in sadovnjake, kjer z dreves pozdravljajo hrustljave, rdeče češnje.
Dan odprtih kleti 2.6. - 3. 6. 2018
Vrata odprejo številni briški vinarji. Popeljali bodo obiskovalce v svoje kleti, med vinske sode, kjer jih bodo navdušili z izvrstnimi vini, s poznavalci vin izmenjali izkušnje in delili dragocene nasvete o umetnosti kletarjenja.
Tradicionalna povorka 10. 6. 2018
Osrednji del Praznika češenj je že tradicionalno namenjen povorki kmečkih vozov. Brici in Brike na vozovih skušajo obiskovalcem približati briško kmečko življenje, briške običaje in navade.
Briška poroka 9. 6. 2018
V letu 2012 je v pestri praznični vsebini, povsem na novo, našla svoj prostor tudi Briška poroka. Po nekajmesečnem dogajanju si je zmagovalni par na izviren in nepozaben način obljubil večno zvestobo. »Noviča in novič« sta se vzela po starih briških šegah in navadah, v kostumih, po obredu z etnološkimi elementi, značilnimi za briške poroke med leti 1920 in 1930.
Köstliche Kirschen
Die ganze Welt kennt Goriška Brda insbesondere wegen der beispiellos schmackhaften Kirschen. Das Kirschenfest ist somit eine der wichtigsten Veranstaltungen, die viele anzieht. Alte Sorten von Kirschen, wie die schwarze und weiße Cepika, die Drugmbernca, Napoleonka, Čufarca, Tercinka, Čempevka, Vedrjanka und andere verbrachten Einheimische auch in andere Orte und sie bereiten aus ihnen viele leckere Gerichte zu. Die Sortenvielfalt wurde auch im kaiserlichen Wien geschätzt und erfreute die Gaumen der Eliten im entfernten Sankt Petersburg, Prag und anderen europäischen Hauptstädten. Ein spezieller Postdienst sorgte für frische Sendungen, und für die Bewohner von Brda waren die Kirschen der erste Ertrag nach einem langen Winter.
Die größte und bedeutendste kulturelle Fremdenverkehrsveranstaltung, die derzeit von mehr als 30.000 Besuchern aus dem In- und dem benachbarten italienischen und österreichischen Ausland besucht wird, ist das Kirschenfest. Die Veranstaltungen sind bereichert mit ethnologischen Inhalten, kulturellen und sportlichen Veranstaltungen und Unterhaltung für alle Generationen. Im Umfeld des Kirschenfestes gibt es zahlreiche Veranstaltungen:
Marathon des Helden der Weinberge am 2. Juni 2018
Jedes Jahr nehmen mehr als 1.000 Radsportenthusiasten an der Veranstaltung teil, die auf dem Weg von Ljubljana nach Brda auf Radwegen führt.
Wanderung von Kirsche zu Kirsche am 2. Juni 2018
Die Teilnehmer "erobern" zusammen mit Kennern der Region Brda die Hügel von Brkini. Der Weg führt durch Dörfer, Weinberge und Obstgärten, in denen knusprige, rote Kirschen von den Bäumen grüßen.
Offener Weinkellertag 2.6. - 3. 6. 2018
Die Türen werden von einigen Brda-Winzern geöffnet und sie nehmen die Besucher in ihre Keller mit zu den Weinfässern, wo sie sie mit hervorragenden Weinen begeistern, mit Weinkenner Erfahrungen austauschen und mit ihnen wertvolle Tipps über die Kunst der Weinkellerei teilen.
Traditionelle Parade 10. 6. 2018
Der zentrale Teil des Kirschenfestes ist traditionell für den Umzug von Bauernwägen vorgesehen. Die am Umzug teilnehmenden Einwohner und Einwohnerinnen von Brda versuchen den Besuchern das Leben auf dem Brda-Bauernhof sowie die Bräuche und Bräuche von Brda näher zu bringen.
Brda-Hochzeit 9. 6. 2018
Im Jahr 2012 fand im abwechslungsreichen festlichen Programm, völlig neu, auch die Brda-Hochzeit (Briška poroka) ihren Platz. Nach mehrmonatigem Vorgeschehen verspricht sich das Siegerpaar auf traditionelle und unvergessliche Weise ewige Treue. Die Braut und der Bräutigam heiraten nach alten Brda Sitten und Bräuchen, in Kostümen mit ethnologischen Elementen, die charakteristisch zwischen 1920 und 1930 für die Hochzeiten in Brda waren.
Sweet cherries
Brda is known all over the world especially for its cherries and for this reason the Cherry festival is one of the central events, that attracts many visitors. Brici have been carrying in their baskets the old varieties such as black and white »cepike, drugmbernce, napoleonke, čufarce, tercinke, čempevke, vedrjanke« and others and transporting them with carriages all around and preparing many delicious dishes with them. They were already appreciated in the times of imperial Vienna. The elite in far off St. Petersburg, Prague and other European capitals were eating this sweet fruit. A special post service took care in those times for fresh shipments and for the inhabitants of Brda this was the first wage after a long winter.
The Cherry festival is the biggest and most attention-grabbing cultural-tourist event visited by over 30.000 visitors from the local and near Italian and Austrian regions. This event is full of ethno- cultural and sports events and entertainment for all generations. The following events are part of the Festival:
Cherry cycling marathon, 2nd June 2018
More than 1.000 cycling enthusiasts participate in this event starting from Ljubljana and finishing in Brda.
Hike from a cherry tree to a cherry tree, 3rd June 2018
Together with the experts of the Brda region, the participants »conquer« the Brda hills. The route winds its way through villages, vineyards and orchards full of cherries.
Wine day, 2nd and 3rd June 2018
Numerous winemakers open the doors of their wine cellars. They will show you the heart of their wine cellar and impress you with high quality wines. They will share experience with wine connoisseurs and give valuable tips about the art of wine making.
Traditional parade, 10th June 2018
The central part of the Cherries festival is the traditional parade of country carts. With them the inhabitants of Brda try to present the rural life , customs and habits of the Brda region.

The traditional Brda wedding started in the Cherries festival in 2012. After several months of events, the winning couple promised each other the eternal love in a unique and unforgettable way. The newlyweds got married according to traditional Brda customs and habits , dressed in costumes and in a ceremony with ethnological elements characteristic for Brda weddings between 1920 and 1930.
