From 12th October on our state capital Klagenfurt is ,among ten other European cities, the holder of the award of the EU-Mission for climate neutral and smart cities, the so called „EU Mission Label“.
The award is the confirmation of Klagenfurt‘s efforts to reach the goal of the climate neutrality by 2030. As up till now the only Austrian city the Carinthian capital has developed the climate city contract and in this way it contributes an important role to achieve the EU-climate goals.
Klagenfurt has an ambitious plan how the town will reach its climate neutrality by 2030. As an example the company Klagenfurter Stadtwerke will purchase only the electricity from renewable sources and it will actively push along the construction of photovoltaic panels. From autumn 2024 the electro buses should be introduced in the city traffic.
