je bilo Celje sedež grofov in knezov Celjskih, ambiciozne in uspešne rodbine, ki mu je v kratki dobi svoje vladavine v 14. stoletju vtisnila neizbrisen pečat. Spomin na veličastno obdobje mesta ob Savinji, ki je sooblikovalo srednjeveško Srednjo Evropo, so danes tri zlate zvezde na modri podlagi. Na pomembno zgodovinsko obdobje spominja tudi eden najlepših srednjeveških gradov, Stari grad Celje, ki je najbolj prepoznavna veduta mesta in edinstveno prireditveno prizorišče.

Med najpomembnejše srednjeveške spomenike v Sloveniji spada Knežji dvor, ki je bil prav tako rezidenca grofov Celjskih. Danes je sedež Pokrajinskega muzeja Celje, v njem pa je strnjenih več kot 2000 let zgodovine.
Bogata kulturna dediščina, ki je v marsičem edinstvena v tem delu Evrope, je trajen spomenik pomembnim zgodovinskim obdobjem mesta ob Savinji.

war Celje Sitz der Grafen und Fürsten von Celje, einer ehrgeizigen und erfolgreichen Familie, die in der kurzen Zeit ihrer Herrschaft im 14. Jahrhundert in der Stadt unauslöschliche Spuren hinterlassen hat. Die Erinnerung an die ruhmreiche Zeit der Stadt am Fluß Savinja, die das mittelalterliche Mitteleuropa mitgeprägt hat, sind heute drei goldene Sterne auf blauem Grund. An die bedeutende historische Periode erinnert auch eine der schönsten mittelalterlichen Burgen, die Alte Burg Celje, die die bekannteste Vedute der Stadt und ein einzigartiger Veranstaltungsort ist.
Zu den wichtigsten mittelalterlichen Denkmälern in Slowenien gehört der Fürstenhof, der auch die Residenz der Grafen von Celje war. Heute ist er Sitz des Landschaftsmuseums Celje, in dem mehr als 2000 Jahre Geschichte erhalten sind.
Das reiche kulturelle Erbe, das in manchem einzigartig in diesem Teil Europas ist, ist ein bleibendes Denkmal den bedeutenden historischen Perioden der Stadt an der Savinja.
In the middle ages
Celje was the seat of the Celje’s counts and princes, which was an ambitious and successful family, that left the town an impressive sign in the short time of its dominance. The memory on the great period of the town at the Savinja river, which was co-shaping the Middle Ages Mid Europe, are today the three stars on the blue background. Also one of the most beautiful Mid Ages castles , Stari grad Celje(Celje Old Castle) , reminds us of this important historical period. The castle is the most recognisable town’s scenery and an unique place for presentations.
Knežji dvor (Old Counts’ Mansion) also belongs to one of the very important Middle Ages monuments in Slovenia; it was the residence of the Celje’s counts, too. Today it is the seat of the Pokrajinski muzej Celje, where more than 2000 years of the history are united.
The rich cultural heritage , which is in many elements unique in this part of Europe, is forever a reminder of the important historic periods of the town at the Savinja river.
