Some days ago cherry from Brda reigned the Austrian Parliament in Vienna. In the afternoon the delegation from the Municipality Brda and the Alps-Adriatic Centre for Cross-border Cooperation from Klagenfurt ( AACC ) was accepted by the President of the Austrian Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka.
The cherries from Brda were brought into the Austrian Parliament by the Vice Mayor of Brda Jurij Špacal and the Director of the Instutute for Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sport Brda Tina Novak Samec. Alps-Adriatic Centre was represented by its President , a longtime friend and supporter of the Municipality Brda Bernard Sadovnik, otherwise the Mayor of the Municipality Globasnitz and by the initiator of this meeting in the Austrian capitol and Vice President Dr. Heinrich Schuster.
The king’s red fruit has so entered again the important Vienesse building. Brda’s women namely sold in Vienna this juicy fruit already one century ago, it was the first source of the income of their families in the season of fruits. Otherwise the Brda Municipality has in the past – with the support of the AACC- already several times met the Austrian political top. In autumn 2010 then the actual Federal President Dr. Heinz Fischer, in June 2016 the actual Mayor of Vienna Dr. Michael Haeupl and at this occasion the President of the Parliament Wolfgang Sobotka.
