On Monday , May 26th, 2020 the Board of Directors of the EIB approved 25 billion euros heavy paneuropean guarantee funds of support to companies , which are seriously affected by Corona Crisis. All 27 EU member countries as shareholders are called to join the funds with one part of their EIB capital in order to mobilize in total up to 200 billion euros additional financial potential. The amounts, which will be paid in the form of guarantees , are meant for companies, which are able to exist on long term basis , however fell in economic difficulties due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
About 65% od the amounts are reserved for small and medium size companies, besides the existing guarantees will be transformed, to support companies on their way out of the crisis.
This measure is a part of the Coronavirus Crisis reaction of the EU and one of the three security nets for countries, companies and workers , which were agreed on April 23rd, 2020 by the European Council.
