State Governor Kaiser: „ EU needs strong regions such as Carinthia and regions need direct European financial subsidies“ – a new regulation of financial rules is necessary.
„Regions are those which contribute daily to the implementation of the European goals. Therefore it would be counterproductive to centralise the urgently needed subsidies for regions or even to shorten them.“ He appealed to the EU Commission to stand back from such plans and to define itself for the strengthening of the European regional-political dimensions. Additionally the Governor is strongly for the basic reform of the European fiscal rules. Kaiser also expressed the need for the check of the long overdue Maastricht Criteria.
