On Thursday , 14th September 2021 the European Commission launched the new medical authority HERA. In the future HERA should coordinate better urgent medical situations at the European level. The problematics o the fight against Corona pandemic namely showed that a unified authority for coordination would be essential.
The European Commission will in due time establish a medical Union and will extend the powers of the European Medical Agency ( EMA ) and European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control ( ECDC). The new medical institution should ensure all EU member countries a reliable and quick access to medicines, vaccines, medical protection equipment, tests and medical devices. HERA will start with its activities in April next year.
