EU recommendation- Bosnia and Herzegovina before accession talks

This week the European Commission recommended to start the EU accession talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina. This recommendation was made on the basis of progress and reforms , which Bosnia and Herzegovina undertook in different fields, inclusive judicial reform and fight against corruption. It is to expect that these talks will pave the way for a possible future membership of Bosna and Herzegovina in the frame of the EU.

The recommendation of the European Commission followed after a long story of cooperation between the EU and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The state has already undertaken impressive steps forward in order to fullfill the criteria for a EU membership, such as reforms of strengthening the democracy, the rule of law and the human rights. The EU prepared different programmes and financial aid to support Bosna and Herzegovina at these endeavours.

The recommendation of the Commssion will now be presented to the member states. It will need to be approved by all 27 leaders, who are set to decide in a summit next week in Brussels.
