In the frame of the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation Euroregion (EGTC) Without Borders there are on the agenda always definite and effective projects. On 26th April the general assembly was held in the form of video conference under the leadership of the Carinthian governor Peter Kaiser . The president Massimo Fedriga and councilor Barbara Zilli participated from Friuli Venezia Giulia and the councilor Federico Caner from Venetotoo. Both regions welcomed Kaiser‘s proposal about joint candidacy for Winter Olympic Games. They discussed also the for 25th November planned ceremony at the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Euroregion Withoud Borders, which will be in Klagenfurt.
„Our joint endeavours are directed to all social and in the future orientated fields“, stressed Kaiser. To that effect he thanked both Italian regions for important information and the exchange of experiences during the Corona pandemic.
As an idea of without borders the Euroregion should according to Kaiser prepare the joint candidacy for Winter Olympics 2034. „Here we want to choose tthe concept away from megalomanie, closer to society“, said the governor. Therefore no new sport objects are planned to be built, but the existing ones in Carinthia, Slovenia and Italy should be used. The holders of the candidacy are supposed to be the National Olympic Commitees of Austria, Slovenia and Italy.
„ For this idea Friuli Venezia Giulia is on your side“, said the president of this region Massimiliano Fedriga to Kaiser. He appraised the European possibility for the joint olympics candidacy, where not only sport, but also culture and society are to be promoted. Also councilor Federico Caner agreed with the above in his speech.
The general assembly prolonged for three years the presiding function of the EGTS Euroregion Without Borders to Sandra Sodini.
