Future of EU Budget is a topic of actual debates

The latest EU Budget Conference, which was led by the EU Commissionary Johannes Hahn, set the basis for important changes in the financial management of the European Union. In focus of the conference were the adjustment of evolving global challenges as well as the support of the structural reforms.

Johanes Hahn undelined the relevance of the structural reforms, which should be in close connection with the payments from the EU funds. The presented approach is aimed to ensure that the member states do not receive only financial support, but also the incentive for implementaion of necessary economic and social reforms.

Another central thema of the conference was the digitalisation of the budget management. The complete digitalisation of the EU budget will be pursued in order to simplify processes, improve transparency and to prevent misuse of the funds.

The conference also underlined the necessity of a strong alignment of the EU finances with sustainability and the digital priorities of the Union.
