Last week the British government under Boris Johnson announced new immigration rules for the EU citizens travelling to Great Britain after Brexit. These rules should be applied in the case, that no agreement about exit is reached. between the EU and Great Britain. The citizens of the EU and the European Economic Area, who will travel to the UK after Brexit, could so till the end of the year 2020 apply for the residence permission for the period up to three years. These rules however would not be valid for the EU citizens, who are already staying in Great Britain: they could apply till the end of the year 2020 in the case of the No-Deal scenario for their residence status in the frame ot the already existing system for registration. (»EU settlement scheme«). Also for shorter stays the new rules would not be valid, but the government plans to establish a points system for the immigration in the medium term.
