According to the EU Commisioner for Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, who met in Skopje the North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Thursday, July 25 th, 2019, North Macedonia should receive the date for the beginning of its access negotiations in October. The main points, on which the authorities in this country should focus till then, are the struggle against the corruption and the organized criminal. North Macedonia namely has the status of the candidate for access to EU since December 2005, however the main obstacle for the beginning of negotiations was until recently the long lasting dispute with Greece about the name of the country.
