EU and USA agreed to suspend mutual penalty tariffs

On 5th March, 2021 EU and USA agreed to suspend all mutual penalty tariffs for EU- and US- exports, which were implemented in the connection with  the Airbus- and Boeing-disputes-  for the time period of four months. This temporary suspension will enable both parties to concentrate on the settlement of the many years lasting dispute, which was brought to the dispute settlement case  at  the World Trade Organization ( WTO ).

The USA and the European Union reproach each other since years to support illegally their aircraft makers  with billions high subventions in order to provide them with  competitive advantages on the market.

The suspension of the trade dispute will help restore confidence and trust and therefore give both parties the space to come to a comprehensive and long-lasting negotiated solution, which would be important also to global trade at large.
