The first cross border ECoC – European Capital of Culture – is open, Nova Gorica and Gorizia are taking over this responsible title.
On the day of the Slovenian Cultural Holiday, 8th February 2025, the many hours lasting celebration was held followed by the official opening of the European Capital of Culture (ECoC) Nova Gorica – Gorizia GO!2025. It started at the renovated Europe Square, where once the border split Italy and Slovenia.
After the afternoon speaches, which stressed the importance of the mutual respect, friendship and historical moment of cross border European Capital of Culture, the opening of ECoC was enriched by a glamorous artistic spectacle. Kurents from Ptujsko polje and a firework took care of one of the highlights of the artistic event.
