Amicable exchange of opinions

Carinthian Governor satisfied with the exchange of opinions about the minorities between the Presidents Van der Bellen and Pahor.

The Carinthian Governor Dr. Peter Kaiser reacted with satisfaction to the contents and results of the meeting between the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and  the Slovenian President Borut Pahor regarding the thema minority politics. »That both friends of  Carinthia appraise our endeavours in the Carinthian minority politics, this means a confirmation of our Carinthian way of reconciliation, which has begun already under my predecessor Gerhard Doerfler and is being consequently continued by me«, said Kaiser. The minority politics, which at the beginning caused both sides numerous painful difficulities, has in between opened a new successful chapter for both parties.

The Carinthian Governor is ready to think about the possibility to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Carinthian plebisite in a mutual memorial celebration. In any case this memorial celebration is offering a unique chance to prove, how former opponents developed through mutual contacts, understanding and resignation not only neighbourhood, but also friendly relations. German and Slovenian speaking inhabitants of Carinthia are to be the living embodiment of the basic European idea »United in diversity«, also said the Governor.
