Celje je tretje največje mesto v Sloveniji ter pomembno gospodarsko, izobraževalno, sejemsko, kulturno in zdravstveno središče Savinjske regije. Je evropsko mesto – odprto in razvojno naravnano. Zelo dobro izkorišča svoj potencial in učinkovito pridobiva evropska sredstva ter vodi evropske projekte. Ponuja investicijske priložnosti. Mesto zakladov
Celje se razprostira na istem območju kot nekoč rimska Celeja, ki je bila – glede na to, kar nam je danes znano – čudovito mesto. Ohranjeni zapisi navajajo, da je bila bogata in močno naseljena, zavarovana z obzidjem in s stolpi, polna večnadstropnih marmornih palač, širokih trgov in ulic. Imenovali so jo kar druga oziroma mala Troja – Troia secunda.
Danes na antično Celejo spominja vrsta lepo ohranjenih ostalin. V Pokrajinskem muzeju si je moč ogledati prezentacijo rimske Celeje »in situ« – na mestu samem.

Celje – die Fürstenstadt
Celje ist die drittgrößte Stadt Sloweniens und ein wichtiger Wirtschafts-, Bildungs-, Messe-, Kultur- und Gesundheitsmittelpunkt der Region Savinjska. Sie ist eine europäische Stadt – offen und entwicklungsorientiert. Ihr Potenzial nutzt sie sehr gut aus, generiert wirksam europäische Mittel und führt europäische Projekte. Die Stadt bietet Investitionsmöglichkeiten. In den letzten Jahren hat sie auf zahlreichen Gebieten große Fortschritte gemacht und ist offen für Investoren. Celje erstreckt sich über das Gebiet des einstigen römischen Celeia, das nach dem, was wir heute wissen, ein wunderbarer Ort war. Aus erhaltenen Aufzeichnungen geht hervor, dass es reich und stark besiedelt war, geschützt von Mauern und Türmen, voller mehrstöckiger Marmorpaläste, breiter Plätze und Gassen. Man nannte es sogar das zweite bzw. kleine Troja – Troia secunda.
Heute erinnert an das antike Celeia eine Reihe schön erhaltener Überreste. Im Landschaftsmuseum kann man sich die Präsentation der römischen Celeia »in situ« vor Ort ansehen.
Celje- the town of princes
Celje is the third largest town in Slovenia and as such an important economy, educational, fair, cultural and health center of the Savinja region. It is an European town- open and development orientated. It exploits its potential , gains funds from European projects and leads them successfully. It offers numerous investment possibilities. In the last years it made a significant improvement on several fields and it is open for investors. The possibilities for them are also at the idyllic Šmartinsko lake and in the charming city center.
The town is proud of its rich history, cultural heritage, companies with tradition, environment projects, culture, beautiful nature and at its talented young and top ranking sportists.
The town of treasures
Celje is located in the same area as once the Roman Celea, which was – according to the available information- a marvelous town. The preserved data quote, that Celea was rich and heavily populated, protected with a wall and with towers, with plenty of high marble palaces , wide markets and streets. It was simply called the second or the small Troia- Troia secunda.
Today a row of well protected remains reminds us of the antique Celea. In the Pokrajinski museum (Regional Museum ) it is possible to see the presentation of the Roman Celea »in situ«- on the spot itself.
