On Friday, March 1st, 2019 Eurostat announced the details of the unemployement for January 2019. According to these data the share in the European area is at 7,8 percent and in the EU 28 6,5 percent. So the data have improved comparing to the previous year. Then the unemployment in the European area was 8,6 percent and in EU 28 7,2 percent. (Data January 2019). The estimation of Eurostat is, that in the EU 28 in January 2019 there were about 16,2 million of people unemployed, from them 12,8 million in the European area.
The lowest rate of the unemployment was in January 2019 in the Czech Republic, namely 2,1 percent, the highest in Greece – 18,5 percent. In Austria the number of unemployed fell from 5,2 percent (Data January 2018) to 4,8 percent in January 2019. Together there are 410.355 unemployed or inhabitants, who are on education courses in the frame of the Public Employment Service Austria (AMS).
